Helen is a confident speaker who has appeared on panels at the First Date Festival in Edinburgh, Sheffield’s Off The Shelf Festival, The Black British Book Festival at the Barbican Centre, London, and more. She has also hosted events at her local Waterstones (Newport and Abergavenny).
creative writing workshops and school assemblies
Helen is passionate about creative writing and the process of crafting a brilliant story. She runs writing workshops for ages 7 and older. Adults, students and young people will enjoy her interactive workshops and she can tailor her sessions to link in with an event’s theme and/or the curriculum. She has delivered whole school and year group assemblies at schools around the country, and is keen to encourage more young people to get writing.

No bolt of inspiration? No problem. Helen will share insights from her writing journey and guide the participants through the starting stages of creating their novel. From generating ideas to pinning down the major plot points, participants will leave the workshop with a story that's ready to write.
Write your own superhero
Join Marvel-nut Helen for an interactive session where participants will write their own superhero. The workshop will include; research, analysis, creative writing and even some drawing. Helen will break down her process for creating characters, share a sneak peek of her new novel and give participants the tools to create characters in any genre.
Writing what you know
Find the story waiting in your memories with Helen's Write What You Know workshop. Participants will discover ways to integrate their knowledge with even the most fantastical plots and take a closer look at how the places that they know and love can help create a rich setting for their stories.
